Iran New Visa Policy

Iran Visa allows its holders to enter Iran for a maximum period of 90 days within a 180 days period. Depending on your nationality you may, or may not be required to obtain Iran visa.

Do I need a visa for Iran?

Iran Visa allows its holders to enter Iran for a maximum period of 90 days within a 180 days period. Depending on your nationality you may, or may not be required to obtain Iran visa.

Iran Visa Free

Currently the citizens of 13 countries can enter Iran without a Visa for the purpose of tourism and business for a period of 90 days within a 180 days period. If you are not a national of any of these 13 countries, you will need to obtain a visa first, in order to be permitted to enter Iran.
Passport holders of Oman, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, China (Hong Kong and Macau), Malaysia, Bolivia, or Venezuela do not need a visa to travel to Iran.

Iran Free Zones

All nationals traveling as tourists can enter following Iran Trade Zones without a visa up to 14 days (extendable): Kish Island, Qeshm Island, Chbahar, Aras, Anzali, Arvand, and Maku.
Note: Visitors from US passport holders can enter Kish Island free zone without a visa for 14 days.

Iran Visa on Arrival/Airport Visa

All nationals can obtain a Visa On Arrival EXCEPT for India, Iraq, Jordan, Somalia, Colombia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, US, UK, and Canada at one of the following international airports in Iran:

Ahvaz International Airport
Bandar Abbas International Airport
Bushehr International Airport
Imam Khomeini International Airport
Isfahan International Airport
Kerman International Airport
Kish Airport
Larestan International Airport
Mashhad International Airport
Orumiyeh International Airport
Qeshm International Airport
Shiraz International Airport
Tabriz International Airport

Note: On arrival countries’ nationals can enter Iran through Iran maritime border of Shahid Bahonar port too.

Iran Visa in Advance

Some visitors to Iran do not need a visa and many of them do need on arrival visa. Holders of some passports must apply in advance to a Iran embassy/consulate in their home countries or other countries to obtain Iran visa. It depends on which passport you have. Here are the countries that can obtain Iran visa easily online, in advance:
Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Jordan, Somalia, Colombia, England, United States of America, and Canada
Note 1: If you are an American, Canadian or British passport holder, you need to get Iran visa with the help of Persa Serv and then collect your visa in Iranian embassy/consulates in your home country/other countries/Interest Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Note 2: If you are citizens of Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Somalia, and Colombia, you will need to apply for a visa through Persa Serv and then collect your visa in Iranian embassy/consulates in your home country or other countries.
Note 3: If you are citizens of citizens of Afghanistan and Bangladesh, you will need to collect only your visa in Iranian embassy/consulates in your home country.
Note 4 1: Getting Iran visa for American, Canadian, and British passport holders takes about 2 months.
Note 5: If you are an American passport holder, you need to apply for your visa in Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington DC.

Entry Ban

Citizens of Israel are totally banned from entry to Iran.
Note 1: If you have an Israeli stamp in your passport, you have two options to travel to Iran:
A. Change your passport and then apply for Iran visa.
B. Your visa will be granted as long your last visit to Israel was more than six months ago.
Note 2: If you want to enter Israel with a stamp of Iran in your passport, you had to wait for 1-4 hours due to an Iranian stamp in your passport, but there’s nothing to worry about. You might be asked to explain why you travel to Iran. Indeed you help the police officer ensure the traveling to Israel will be safe. Just answer all questions truthfully and honestly!
